QUEEN'S HILL ESTATE: ENGLISH OUTREACH

JULY 21-22, 9AM-1PM

The children at QHE are mostly the children of immigrant mothers from China. So their English is generally weaker than that of most HK children. The parents really want their children to learn English, so teaching English is a good way ‘in’ to talk about the gospel.

STUDENTS: We anticipate maybe 30 students will come. In the past, we divided the children into 2 groups by age / ability — kindergarteners in one group, primary school students in the second group. Most of the children are about 5-7 years old.

RESOURCES: The theme is about creation. There will be a mini book on creation, entitled God Made the World. Pastor Diana came up with a song (to the tune of 'Five Little Ducks') and has reworked the text to match the song.  Our team will teach the story of creation over the 3 sessions. We will use the song every day as the theme song, and add in one or two other simple children’s worship songs like ‘God is So Good’. We will come up with  games and some arts and crafts activities related to creation. The children will also learn to memorize the two verses at the back of the mini book.

YAU MA TEI: ENGLISH CAMP

JULY 24-25, 9:30AM-4:30PM

STUDENTS: Ladder Mission will have 20 children — with 10 from grassroots families in the neighborhood and 10 from Joyful Harvest. The ages will be from 6-13, Primary 1-6 students. So the average age of the children will probably be older than that of the group at Queen’s Hill. You will want to divide the children into groups by age and ability.

RESOURCES: Again, we will use the mini book God Made the World as the main text and theme. Each child will be given a copy. We will sing ‘God Made the World' as the theme song and include other worship songs, games, arts and crafts and one or more additional texts for more capable students. Our JHF students would probably have attended the English sessions at Queen’s Hill, so doing God Made the World would be a repeat for them, which may not be a bad thing. But it would be good to have some other material ready if we see that they have mastered the text already.

CONFESS THE WORD OVER YOUR FINANCES

Thank You Father, You are Jehovah Jirah, my provider. You do supply all my needs according to your riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Thank You Lord, I am a giver; it comes back to me good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over. Thank You Lord, I’m a tither; the devour is rebuked, he cannot touch my seed nor what my seed has produced. Thank You Father, You’ve opened up the windows of heaven, poured me out great blessings that my life does not have room enough to contain and my seed does not cast itself before its time in the field. Thank You Father, You’ve given me the ability to obtain wealth so that your covenant is established here on the earth. Thank You Father, You delight in the prosperity of your servants. Thank You Lord, I’ve been redeemed from the curse of the law, Jesus being made a curse for me so that the blessings of Abraham might flow freely into my life. Thank You Lord, I am a partaker of the Spirit of God by faith. I’m blessed in the city, blessed in the field, blessed coming in, blessed going out, blessed in my body and in my storehouse. Therefore I thank You Father that I am plenteous in goods. Thank You Lord, I’m the head and not the tail, I’m above and not beneath, I lend and I do not borrow. Today, I declare all my bills paid, all my debts retired and I claim every dime I need to preach the Gospel in Hong Kong and around the world.

WHY Hong Kong?

Please watch this video to learn about the recent history of Hong Kong. It explains the realities and fears that many people are currently facing. This video was made by our friends at "China Mission", and we plan to visit them during our time there.
